Umi Ryuuzaki ( 龍咲 海, Ryūzaki Umi) is elegant with dark blue eyes and long, flowing blue hair. Voiced by: Hekiru Shiina (Japanese) Julie Maddalena (English), Venus Terzo in original English dub, Tara Jayne (English) in OVA. In some language adaptations, her name was changed to Lucy and Luce. Hikaru decides that she would rather Cephiro not have to depend on one person's self-sacrifice, and uses her power as the Pillar to destroy the Pillar System and allow Cephiro to function on its own. It is apparent from the first moment the girls are told they will be Magic Knights that Hikaru is the most strong-willed and passionate of the group this leads to her eventually becoming the new Pillar at the end of the season. In the second season, when the need for a new Pillar of Cephiro is urgent, people from many different lands flock to Cephiro to become the Pillar. In the anime, Hikaru's affection for Lantis becomes much more apparent. Hikaru claims to love everyone, and due to her innocent nature, probably loves everyone equally. However, in the manga, Hikaru is only hinted at being romantically involved with Lantis, despite him hinting that he has strong feelings for her. In the second season, she falls in love with Lantis, and becomes friends with Eagle Vision of Autozam. She becomes best friends with Umi and Fuu in the first season. It's also mentioned that she's the most popular girl in her all-girls school by her classmates in both adaptations. When Ferio agrees, Umi cheers, as does Hikaru, though she still doesn't get it. Hikaru is very popular with fans, especially with boys, because of her sometimes childish behavior for example, in the manga, where Fuu is "asking" Ferio to help them, Umi catches on to what she's doing, but Hikaru has no idea what's going on. She uses fire-based spells, such as Arrow of Fire (Honoo no Ya) and Crimson Lightning. In particular, she wants to save Cephiro in the first arc in order to return home to her dog, Hikari, her precious childhood friend. She is headstrong and determined, and in many ways very childish, but she is fiercely loyal to her friends. She helps her parents and her three older brothers (Masaru, Satoru and Kakeru) to run a school for Kendo. Hikaru Shidou ( 獅堂 光, Shidō Hikaru) is an eighth-grader with bright red eyes and scarlet hair, who is small for her age and often teased for her boyishness. After a few attacks, Hikaru finally stands up and uses her "Fire Arrow" spell to defeat Alcyone.Main characters Hikaru Shidou Clef is turned into stone, and Zagato's spell breaks the ground around him. At that moment, Zagato shows up and fires a spell at Clef. Alcyone goes after them, while Clef thinks about how they would do against Zagato. His last command is for them to go west to the Forest of Silence, to Presea's home. He blocks the attack and fends off Alcyone as he sends the girls away on a griffin. Watching from his fortress, Zagato sends Alcyone to stop the Magic Knights. Clef asks if they can use magic when they say they can not, he grants it to them and begins teaching them. He then explains that they cannot leave until they fulfill the Princess' wish. He then explains that Princess Emeraude made it clear they are Legendary Magic Knights, who are destined to save their world. Clef explains that their world was never like this before, that it is stable with Princess Emeraude's prayers holding everything together.
Clef explains that their ruler, Princess Emeraude, was imprisoned by the High Priest, Zagato, high above the skies of Cephiro. They are then greeted by a wizard named Clef. The girls introduce themselves as Hikaru Shidou, Umi Ryuuzaki and Fuu Hououji, who are all in the 8th grade regardless of how they look.
